JANUARY 26 - HAPPY HOUR
Every Thursday from 4-6 PM the RV Park has a Happy Hour and many people attend. There is live music and dancing. Everyone brings a dish to share and their own drinks. I tried to video Donna (not me) singing but the camera brought up local conversation too much. She sings like Patsy Cline. The men are good too. Each week, anyone can buy chances on the 50/50 drawing. Half of the money goes to the winner. Unbelievably Tom won it tonight! $57!! That comes in handy. With that we bought tickets to an upcoming Pig Roast and Happy Hour t-shirts and still had money left over. Wahoo!!!

JANUARY 24, 2012
Today was our first adventure of the year to Progreso, Mexico. Nuevo Progreso is a favorite getaway for many South Texans. Everything is within walking distance, so most people park on the US side and walk across the bridge. There is a parking lot on either side of the road right before the bridge and the cost is $2 for all day. Larry had an early dental appointment there so we rode over with Dale and Carolyn Kaufman from Moline, Iowa. Of course our meeting place was the Red Panty Bar that has wonderful marguaritas and nachos which we had about 11 AM. From there we walked the streets, looked and bought. Edna and Carolyn make beautiful jewelry and are constantly on the search for unusual beautiful stones and beads. Tom got tequila and Domiana. Of course we had to make a couple more stops for margaritas. Tee Hee. What a mess!

Well besides being the "new kid on the block", we are also the newest RV and that has caused quite a stir. Everyone stares at our rig and has lots of questions. It doesn't take much here. Many of these people hae been here for months or permanently. It sure has been a great way to meet new people. It's been fun to see the people again that we "hung out" with last year. Many of them are Canadians and perhaps we can visit them when we get up there.
Tonight was the annual Spaghetti Dinner hosted by the people from the woodworking shop. Food and fellowship is always good. They sold over 600 tickets! Now that's what I call a fundraiser! They drew names for prized of beautiful handcrafted wood pieces that they created (About 100 of them). Tom and I were each fortunte enough to win. Tom got a bowl made with exotic woods and I got a pen crafted from Corian. Cousin Edna was the hit of the evening. There was one odd piece that everyone hoped they wouldn't get because it was so weird. (The craftsmanship was amazing though - lots of work). When they called Edna's name, she was so thrilled then when she saw her prize, she fell back into her chair with her red face buried in her hands. Lots of laughs. If anyone knows what this is, please let us know.

We finally got on the road with new motor home after luinch. We drove to "Lone Star" (Good Sam) park in Austin, Texas. After a much needed rest, we ventured on the next morning to Harlingen, Texas. We arrived about 4 PM in Park Place Estates RV Park (5401 Business 83) where we were greeted by cousins, Larry and Edna Hockett. It was great to see everyone again.
