MESA, APACHE JUNCTION, SUPERSTITION MOUNTAIN, AZ

MESA, APACHE JUNCTION, SUPERSTITION MOUNTAIN 3-5-12

Like any new home, there are some problems with the motor coach.  Nothing major.  We went to a dealer on the East side of Phoenix - Mesa for repairs.  Unfortunately they had to order some parts so we will return on the return trip towards home. This area was full of RV parks.  While there, we enjoyed the scenery.  We drove up by Superstition Mountain in hopes of finding the wild flowers (poppies) in bloom but missed them.  The legend of the Lost Dutchman's Gold Mine centers around the Superstition Mountains. According to the legend, a German immigrant named Jacob Walzer discovered a mother lode in the Superstition Wilderness and revealed its location on his deathbed in Phoenix in 1891 to Julia Thomas, a boarding-house owner who had taken care of him for many years. Several mines have been claimed to be the actual mine that Walzer discovered, but none of those claims have been verified.  Some Apaches believe that the hole leading down into the lower world is located in the Superstition Mountains. Winds blowing from the hole are supposed to be the cause of severe dust storms.

We picked up something in one of our tires in Texas and finally got it repaired.  We were able to travel with it but just had to keep adding air to it.  This is what they pulled out of the tire.  Thank you to the men for repairing it quickly.
